Self-billing: Streamlining procurement and payment processes

OpusCapita introduces support for self-billing, an innovative invoicing capability designed to enhance procurement and payment workflows between businesses and their suppliers.

Self-billing provides an efficient solution for managing complex invoicing processes. In a self-billing setup, the buyer assumes full responsibility for generating and issuing invoices on behalf of the supplier. This approach significantly streamlines processes, reduces administrative workload, improves efficiency, accelerates payments and ensures compliance.

How the solution works

Before implementing self-billing, the buyer and supplier must establish a formal agreement outlining the terms of their arrangement. This agreement is strictly between the two parties, and OpusCapita holds no responsibility if the terms are not fulfilled. Since only the buyer can create and issue self-billed invoices, they are responsible for ensuring that all invoice content and issuance conditions are met.

Self-billing operates on agreed formats, principles, and procedures, such as those established by Peppol. Self-billed invoices are processed separately from standard invoices, following a distinct delivery flow. To participate, both the buyer (invoice issuer) and the supplier (invoice recipient) must set up agreements and capabilities with their respective service providers. Alternatively, OpusCapita can set up and serve both parties, buyer and supplier, as customers of the service.

Despite these ground rules, invoice issuance, sending, routing, delivery, and reception happen just like with regular e-invoicing.
